Ms. Annita had a nice crowd at Summer Literacy Camp on Monday. They read Scaredy Squirrel. All of these students have been bringing their books back to the bookmobile regularly and have UPGRADED to our canvas book bags. Congrats! We look forward to seeing our patrons again and again and again this summer! Keep reading!!! For more photos...visit our bookmobile BLOG at http://beebebadgerbookmobile.weebly.com .

The rain has deterred the bookmobile this week, but, hopefully it hasn't deterred our readers. This is a challenge for our TEACHER readers...take a photo of some books you've read this summer OR the book you are reading right now...POST your photo in the comments below. Our students are inspiring us...now, let us inspire them. If you've read something excellent...post a recommendation, as well. The photo in this post is Dr. Calvert's stack of books read, so far, this summer. Most enjoyed were The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks (adults), The Reading Makeover (professional) and Just Jake: Camp Wild Survival (kids, available at Goff Library). The next book on my list is Completely Clementine (borrowed from the bookmobile).

We were excited to have some forest friends with us at Summer Literacy Camp today! We read Hello, Ocean by Pam Munoz Ryan and talked about all of the senses we use at the ocean. Since we aren't near the ocean...their take-home-work is a nature walk...where they can discover and list all of the things we can be aware of, using our five senses, right here at home! We also played a fun rhyming game...AND...Dr. Calvert brought a conch shell straight from the ocean...we could all hear the ocean. It was a terrific day at Summer Literacy Camp 2017!

We had another terrific week on the Badger Bookmobile! Thanks to all of our frequent patrons as well as some BRAND NEW patrons for coming out and choosing some great books. Dr. Calvert took FOUR boxes of books to the bookmobile on Monday morning to re-stock it...that means a lot of books were checked out during our first week on the road. Way to go, Beebe Readers!
