What is the Iowa Test of Basic Skills?

The Iowa test are paper-based norm-referenced test which measure the performance of individual Arkansas students against a national group. It is a state law that requires the state of Arkansas to test public school students.These test will identify students who may need additional instruction in language arts, math and science. 

What is the purpose of the test?

Research shows that the earlier we measure progress toward meeting educational standards, the more we can strengthen a student's chances to stay on target enabling him/her to succeed and he college and career ready upon graduation high school. These assessments ensure that all students in Arkansas public schools have an equal opportunity to demonstrate grade-level application of knowledge and skills in the core academic subjects consistent with state curriculum frameworks and performance standards.
