Out of 16 classrooms across the state, & 160 students that participated in an Arkansas sumdog competition this past week,, we had 3 students place in the top 10! Austin Heath came in 10th place, Catherine Manning came in 4th place and the #1 student in the state is Aleyah Kiango. Congrats to theses students!

Last Friday 2nd grade students became detectives to solve the case of the missing principal!! They have been learning about drawing conclusions, so they had to use this skill to look at a crime scene, read suspect interviews, and draw conclusions about who kidnapped the principal!! They solved the case and discovered suspect #3, Mrs. McNeill, kidnapped Mr. Rollins. 😱 Not to worry though, Mr. Rollins has been returned safe and sound! Awesome job 2nd grade for helping solve the case!! #bprd #ohtheplacesyoullgo *No principals were harmed during this assignment.
Mrs. White’s class went outside last Friday morning to have science and writing class! We have been studying “Stormy Skies” on Mystery Science and using the clouds to predict the weather. We went outside to do some cloud watching and predict the weather later in the day. Not a single cloud was in the sky, so students used their imaginations, decided on a cloud, drew their cloud and wrote a prediction. It was a lot of fun! 💙#bprd #bbelem

UAMS/ Unity Health White County Medical Center Come and check out this fun but informative booth about strokes. UAMS and Unity Health White County are partnering to share stroke signs and prevention. Mrs. Strickland's first energy investigation. Students built paper models of an amusement park ride called the Twist-O-Matic. The ride stores energy in rubber bands and spins around when the energy is released. Students compared the speed of the spins when they use a thin rubber band versus a thick rubber band. #BPRD #BBElem

Last week 2nd grade read “Officer Buckle & Gloria” and practiced asking and answering questions about the text. They asked guest speakers to come and talk to the kids and let the students practice asking questions. We were honored to have Deputy Grabill and his K-9 Officer, Storm, from Lonoke County and Officers Campbell and Rushin from Beebe Police Department. FYI: Applications are being accepted for Fall Good Mourning Grief Support Groups at Arkansas Children's Hospital. These groups are for any children and teens, K-12, who have experienced the death of a family member or friend. Support groups for adults connected to child/teen participants are also available. A Parent Orientation will be Tuesday, Sept. 24 and groups for all ages plus adults, will begin Tuesday, Oct. 1 and run for 8 weeks. Two classrooms battled through multiple steps to determine the champion book for each class. Each round, the requirements increased in difficulty. Today, both classrooms presented in the final round to determine the grand champion. Charlotte's Web won by a narrow margin over Harry Potter. 15 Beebe Elementary students enjoyed a field trip to the Hillary Rodham Clinton Children's Library today as a reward for completing their Summer Reading Program Packets. The students rotated through three AMAZING stations and enjoyed a pizza lunch. One of our students said it best, "This was the best day of my life!"
Mrs. McElmurry’s 2nd grade class created pumpkin book characters as a fun at home project that they could share in class. The students loved reading their book with their parents and decorating a pumpkin to match their favorite character! Mrs. McElmurry’s 2nd grade students learned about Emus this week during their book study of “Edward the Emu”. They used Google Earth to explore their habitat, Australia, and researched facts about the Emu. To wrap up their unit, they completed a directed drawing and wrote about what they learned this week! #BPRD #OntheRoadtoSuccess
2nd grade participated in a reading competition in March and April. Students who read 1,000+ minutes were rewarded with a water party!! We had 71 students who earned this!!
