The students in Mr. Belew’s 5th grade math class are working diligently to unravel the mysteries of fractions and mixed numbers. Recently they constructed a multiplication chart to assist them in their efforts. The students discovered that not only is the multiplication chart a handy tool for some of those hard to remember multiplication facts, but that it can also be used to find equivalent fractions. Our use of the multiplication table here at the beginning of school will hopefully allow the students to focus on the deeper learning of the lessons while reinforcing the memorization of those all-important multiplication facts.
